That was the night you got to me
You came to me seeking comfort
You came to me to share
To talk, to cry and to sleep
I was there
That was the night you came to me
You met me in the dark
Dressed sharply in black
You kissed me, you cried with me
I was there
That was the night you scared me
Describing to me what happened
Sharing your opinion – it frightened me
You clenched me, you had no idea
I was there
That was the night you shared with me
Trembling into the hours
I opened up to you
My emotions under the blanket
Did you know I was really there?
That was the night you hurt me
Like a vacuum next to my heart
Shocked out of reality
How did I not know
That I was really there?

I love this one Lisa. Some lovely soft rhyme in the first stanza with share/I was there. An with dark/black in the second. I think it gives just enough away, but still keeps the reader guessing about the exact nature of the exchange. The darkness is really palpable and the repetition is fantastic. A great read. Look forward to more poems from you
Thanks Chris 🙂 Means a lot! Actually wrote that one a few years ago. Let’s see what else I’ll come up with.
